KheZu to be OG’s new coach: who is he and can he bring the team back to the top?

Changes are brewing on the Dota 2 scene: Alexey “STORM” Tumanov, a well-known analyst and caster, revealed the name of the new OG coach on one of his streams. According to him, it will be German Maurice “KheZu” Gutmann. Although there have been no official statements from OG yet, it is worth noting that STORM’s inside information is almost always confirmed.
Maurice Gutmann is a person with a rich history in professional Dota 2. During his playing career, he represented such teams as Escape Gaming and even Team Secret. His best result as a player at The International was 9-12 place at TI7. Later, having already moved to the role of coach, KheZu led Quincy Crew to a similar result at TI10 in 2021. This was a significant moment that confirmed his abilities as a mentor. After TI10, Maurice changed the focus of his activities and began working in analytics and casting studios. His style of presentation and deep understanding of the game have made him a popular figure in the community. However, KheZu is now returning to the coaching role to breathe new life into OG.
Why did OG change coaches?
OG management has decided to part ways with Mikhail “Misha” Agatov after three years of cooperation. The reason for this was the team’s unsatisfactory results in recent months. OG failed to qualify for The International 2024, and also failed to qualify for PGL Wallachia, losing to the AVULUS roster. The latest disappointment was the result at Elite League S2, where the team took only 5-6 place, losing to a weaker team Execration. KheZu’s appointment could be a turning point for OG. He already has experience working with teams that showed results above expectations. His fresh perspective, analytical skills and deep understanding of the current meta can help OG return to the top of European Dota 2. It is worth noting that KheZu is not only a professional with experience, but also a person who has been through the ups and downs of the professional scene. This means that he understands how to inspire players and work with the psychological side of the team.
OG, like any legendary organization, is not going to give up. KheZu’s appointment is a signal that the team is ready for a rebuild and is striving to regain its former glory. If the information is confirmed, the new coach will receive a difficult but inspiring task – to make OG a formidable contender on the world stage again. The Dota 2 community is already holding its breath in anticipation of official announcements. Will OG be able to regain their position under the leadership of KheZu? Time will tell, but one thing is for sure – this choice looks promising.
